Measures are in place to prevent sea defence breach - President Jagdeo

President Bharat Jagdeo today visited Montrose and Betterhope, East Coast Demerara, two communities severely affected by overtopping. He assured concerned residents that government is putting all mechanisms in place to prevent a breach in the sea defence system.
Government responding to lower East Coast Demerara Villages affected by Spring Tide

Necessary interventions are being made to strengthen the sea defences and enhance the residential drainage capacity in the lower East Coast Demerara villages that have been affected by overtopping caused by the current Spring Tides, as the entire Caribbean Region is confronted by strong tidal wave action during this period.
Minister Persaud meeting Pomeroon flood-hit farmers today
MINISTER of Agriculture, Mr. Robert Persaud, and a high level delegation are scheduled to visit upper and lower Pomeroon today.
A release from the Regional Administration of Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) said they will meet with farmers at Little Try Best in lower Pomeroon and Kaikaburi Creek in upper Pomeroon.
More East Coast residents get flood relief cheques
RESIDENTS of several East Coast Demerara villages yesterday received their $10,000 flood relief cheques from officials of the Recovery Planning & Implementation Secretariat (RP&IS), the Government Information Agency (GINA) reported.
