Remanded on abduction charge
Devon Williams, 22, of 169 James Street, Albouystown, was yesterday charged with the offence of abduction. He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle and was not required to plead to the indictable offence.
It is alleged that on October 3, he abducted Yolanda Taylor.
The lawyer for the accused said that according to information received, the virtual complainant is the girlfriend of the defendant.
In response, the police prosecutor said the virtual complainant and the defendant broke up three months before the alleged abduction, and on the day in question the accused went to her home and held a gun at her side, ordering her out of the house.
He then allegedly took her at another house and held her against her will.
Later he fell asleep and Taylor escaped and reported the matter to the police.
The accused was later arrested in the house and a hand gun was found in his possession.
The police prosecutor objected to bail based on the seriousness of the charge, and the accused will return to court on October 17, 2008.
