Le Meridien Open tennis tournament to serve off Friday

THE Le Meridien Hotel has committed to sponsorship of its annual Open Tennis Tournament for the year 2008.

The tournament which is fully sponsored by Le Meridien will feature top players from all categories and will last for just over two weeks from Friday, October 17th until Sunday, November 2nd.

The categories to be contested are Girls & Boys Mini-Tennis, Girls & Boys U-12 Singles, Girls & Boys U-14 Singles, Boys Under-18 Singles, Ladies Open Singles, Means Open Singles, Means O-35 Singles, Mens O-45 Singles, Mens Open Doubles, Mens O-35 Doubles, Mens O-45 Doubles, Mens O-55, Mixed Open Doubles

This tournament comes at a time when the junior complement of tennis players have increased dramatically over the last few years.

In a recent meeting with the GLTA Executive, the General Manager of Le Meridien, Mr. Bert Plas stated his appreciation for the efforts of the GLTA to encourage more juniors to adopt the sport as their game of choice.

Le Meridien continues to host the training of the GLTA’s National Junior Squads A & B free of cost at their facilities. The GLTA wishes to thank the Management of Le Meridien for continuing to show interest in the development of tennis in Guyana.

All players who wish to participate in the tournament must contact Tournament Coordinator Phillip Squires at 668-5802 to uplift registration forms.

The closing date for submission of applications is Tuesday, October 14th and the Opening Ceremony will be held on Friday, October 17th at 4.30pm at Le Meridien Tennis Courts.

All registered players are expected to attend.
