Patriotism is love of country first
FOR someone who supposedly finds no pleasure from bad-mouthing his country whether home or abroad, Mr. Lincoln Lewis could convince anyone otherwise. It peeves me to know that here in Guyana the word patriotism was never heard in some sections of society and those who we hope to take as role models are the ones who display the most unpatriotic behaviour. Mr. Lewis, where does your allegiance lie?
Lincoln Lewis is a typical example of someone who regrets having been born in Guyana. Why? What does he gain from bashing Guyana at every opportunity? Guyana is not the Government! Take a page out of the American’s book, and learn what patriotism is. Love of country first.
I am aware Mr. Lewis that your job as General Secretary of the Caribbean Congress of Labour keeps you in Barbados most of the time, but at the end of the day you are still Guyanese, and sadly, this causes me to be ashamed at what has come to define Guyanese.’
Mr. Lewis, if life in Guyana is so bad that you have to publicise this at every forum, how were you able to afford to build your luxury home in Cummings Lodge? Why have you chosen to build here instead of Barbados, which in your estimation has the perfect government?
I am sure that the Hon. David Thompson will not hesitate to grant you such liberty in his country, especially taking into consideration the way Guyanese are so ‘hospitably’ treated in that island.
Mr. Lewis it is people like you who contribute to Guyanese being treated with such disdain in other countries because those citizens believe that Guyanese live in such abject poverty that when they visit those countries they are treated with suspicion.
Come on Mr. Lewis. Stop bashing Guyana in your futile attempts to make the government look bad. Are you so blinded by your political loyalty to the opposition that you cannot admit that Guyana is developing and will continue to develop in spite of what you or your cohorts believe or attempt to do?
