Much has been done in 16 years of PPP/C government
AFTER 16 years in government the PPP/C has done much that attest to development. There have been numerous investments especially in the main agricultural sector in Guyana.
New equipment and machinery have been introduced into these sectors by government to enhance productivity.
The US$170M Skeldon Sugar Modernisation Project (SSMP) which would improve the sugar industry is an excellent investment by government. This modernisation of the entire sugar industry would bring the sector to international standards and increase production.
The Enmore Estate would also be revamped to include a packaging facility for sugar produced.
The $89M agro-packaging facility at Parika is another good investment since it would benefit farmers and exporters in having their agricultural produce prepared and packaged for export. Another bonus of this facility is that its services are free of cost.
The Amerindian communities have also benefited from government’s development plans, since they were given three (3) kiln facilities and equipment to enhance production in the logging sector.
The rice industry has also seen much investment since 1992 and this has made more markets available to farmers and exporters.
Democracy coupled with investment meant success for Guyanese people!
