A head-on collision involving a taxi and a motor lorry on the Kingelly Public Road, West Coast Berbice, about 80 kilometres from the city, has left one person dead and about four others seriously injured.

A Guyana Chronicle source reported that the accident occurred around dusk last evening, as the car belonging to Indira Taxi Service was proceeding towards Rosignol, with the truck travelling in the opposite direction.

The source said the driver of the truck was not among the injured who were rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital for treatment.
