SENIOR Probation and Social Security Officer Mr Rudder is calling for abusers of children not to be granted bail.

Addressing scores of school children, teachers and residents at a rally to mark Child Protection Week Friday on the lawns of the Anna Regina Town Council, Mr Rudder said, “We need to get back to that particular age when someone can correct a child anywhere”.

Mr Rudder reminded his audience that child abuse takes place in the home, especially where there are stepfathers.

Mr Rudder pointed out that churches, institutions and other organisation have a role to play in child protection.

The rally was held under the theme “Every citizen a child’s Protector”.

It was organised by the Anna Regina sub office of the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security.
