More parental involvement in children’s education
When this government took office in 1992, it initiated a development plan for the education sector. Guyanese students, over the years, have been provided with equal opportunities to access tertiary studies in various fields in and out of Guyana.
As the government continues to accelerate the implementation of the education sector in Guyana, another batch of 150 students will soon leave here for Cuba where they will be trained in various fields: Agronomy, medicine, engineering and physical education, thanks to an agreement with the Cuban government.
Guyana is observing Education Month under the theme ‘Education of the Child: A Parent-Teacher Obligation’. I strongly recommend that all parents should get more involved in their children’s academic life, and make that investment that will prepare them for their future.
I am extremely happy that the government is making such a huge investment to ensure that every generation to come has a bright future and that Guyana can contribute to the brain-box of the world.
