Farewell toast!

FOREIGN Affairs Minister Ms. Carolyn Rodrigues–Birkett shares a toast with outgoing Cuban Ambassador Francisco Marchante Castellanos, in a demonstration of the friendship which exist between the two countries.

Ambassador Castellanos has completed his tour of duty to Guyana and Minister Rodrigues held a farewell reception in his honour at Ramphal House yesterday.
Minister Rodrigues noted the significant assistance which Guyana is receiving from Cuba and highlighted the fact that there are currently more Guyanese students studying in Cuba than ever before.

She expressed government’s appreciation for the contingent of Cuban doctors who are working in Guyana while Guyanese students are being trained in Cuba.

In his response to the Minister’s remarks, Ambassador Castellanos said Guyana has been a good friend to Cuba since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1972.
