Anna Regina Multilateral School tops country with CXC results
STUDENTS of Anna Regina Multilateral School (ARMS) on Essequibo Coast have topped the country at the recent Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) tests.
Senior teacher Sahadeo told the Guyana Chronicle ARMS secured the first and third places, with the best candidate, Rahul Lall securing 16 passes, 14 grade ones and two grade twos, with distinctions in 11 subjects.
Lall got grade ones in Agriculture, Biology, English A, English B, Home Economics Management, Integrated Science, Mathematics, Physics, Principles of Business, Social Studies, Physical Education and Sports, Human and Social Biology, Electricity and Electronics Technology and Information Technology and grade twos in Chemistry and Spanish.
Sahadeo said the other candidate, Vickram Deonarine, who placed third, obtained 16 passes, too, 13 grade ones and three grade twos.
A third ARMS student, whom he did not name, was also among the top 10 countrywide, Sahadeo said.
ARMS also emerged with the best CXC results last year and in 2001 and did well, taking first, second and third places in 2006, as well.
Sahadeo said the school copped the Anne Blue Scholarship Award four times in the last five years and the success is due mainly to the hard work of teachers, including the headmistress and members of the new Board of Governors.
Lall is the son of retired ARMS Headmaster, Mr. Parmeshwar Lall and Mrs. Judy Lall, who is also a senior teacher at the school.
Deonarine thanked Almighty God, his parents and teachers for aiding his performance. (Rajendra Prabhulall)
