Whispering Mabel

One of the best news that surfaced last week was the report that government may again resort to organised public transportation for the hapless commuters who at the present time are exposed to the worst kind of service that is provided by the privately owned minibus operators.

There is just no area of what now is offered that can be considered as satisfactory and the urgency of implementing a system to satisfy the real need of the vast commuting public cannot be over emphasised.
*************************
There is a kind of strange but quite debilitating strain of influenza that, once entrenched in the system leaves the victim in a state of almost immobility and discomfort due to prolonged periods of headache and throat ailments, usually lasting for about seven days.
*************************
The recently opened brand new $4.4M public health laboratory could not have come sooner. Maybe one of the first tasks is to identify the type of flu that is currently infecting many Guyanese.
*************************
Mabel was thinking whether the minibus operators are obligated to file income tax returns and if indeed so, what is the system employed to authenticate the stated earnings?
*************************
The former public servant who once headed up the economic entity during the Burnham years and who is now reputed to be in very close association with one present day Government Minister is considered to have amassed fabulous wealth. This has surfaced over inquiries about the ownership of a brand new high-rise building complex on the lower East Coast railway line road.
*************************
Many of the CARICOM personnel are reported to be now resident so close to their headquarters that they can actually dispense with the need of a car to get to work. How convenient, says Mabel.
*************************
Why non-resident Guyanese journalist Ricky Singh insists on referring to the controversy existing with Venezuela as a dispute is most disconcerting. His insistence must be considered as disloyal. He has previously been publicly rebuked for adopting this pro-Venezuela position on their (Venezuela) absurd claim to almost all of our Essequibo region. Ricky Singh is well aware that the matter of a dispute was settled way back in 1899, and what truly exists is a controversy created by Venezuela’s futile attempt to reopen the issue of a dispute. Is Ricky Singh not then playing into the hands of this avaricious neighbour?

Ricky Singh should be called upon to give reasons for his disloyalty to the land of his birth, reasons Mabel.
