TWO men, on separate carnal knowledge charges, were both refused bail by Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle yesterday.

Of the duo remanded to prison, Kurt Kunghel Singh, 25, of Lot 104 Campbell Avenue, Georgetown, is accused of committing the act on a girl above 15-years of age but not yet 16.

Police Inspector Denise Griffith, prosecuting, successfully opposed the grant to Singh, on the ground that there is a likelihood of the accused tampering with the child.

The Prosecutor said Singh was pursuing the child since she was 12-years-old to have an intimate relationship with her.

He joined the same minibus with the virtual complainant and, having taken away her cell phone, disembarked and told her, if she wanted it back, she has to follow him.

Griffith said the victim became afraid and complied with the instruction in the hope of retrieving the instrument but would now have to endure, for the rest of her life, what happened to her at the hands of the accused.

That case was put off to July 18.
The other accused, George Singh called ‘Frankie’, 48, of Lot 65 Sandy Babb Street, Kitty, in the city, as well, is alleged to have violated an imbecile on July 4.

Prosecutor Griffith said the prisoner knew the victim is a person of defective mentality because he is a friend of her stepfather and lives in close proximity to them.

That Singh, too, will remain incarcerated, until July 22.
