LIONEL Narine and Elvis Netram appeared before Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle yesterday, charged separately with simple larceny.

Narine, 32, pleaded not guilty to stealing 168 pairs of safety boots, valued $1,334,408, property of AINLIM, between June 6 and 9 last.

Netram, 25, of Craig, East Bank Demerara, also denied the June 7 theft of safety boots worth $324,000, belonging to AINLIM, as well.

Police Inspector Denise Griffith, prosecuting, reported that 29 pairs of the footwear were recovered and Narine and Netram were each put on $85,000 bail until July 25.
