TWO men were remanded to prison by Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle yesterday, on a simple larceny charge.

Twenty-five-year-old Fitzroy Oselmo and Errol Ferreira, 25, both of Sebai, North West District, pleaded guilty but the magistrate changed their pleas after hearing their explanations.

It is alleged that, last June 25 at Sebai, they stole one ‘Yamaha’ engine worth $1M and a boat valued $400,000, property of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) of Region One (Barima/Waini).

But Police Inspector Denise Griffith, prosecuting, said the boat and engine were recovered after the 01:00h theft.

Oselmo said, at the request of another man whom he named, he and Ferreira took the motor off the craft.

Subsequently, the former was informed that Police at Port Kaituma wanted him and he went to the station.

The case was transferred to Matthews Ridge Court, North West District, for August 5.
