Great to have these buses back

Return of city buses proposed. We need to declare a national holiday because this means that I would no longer be subjected to foul mouthed drivers and their assistants, nor will I have to listen to the lewd, loud, violent and angry music that they choose to play, or be treated with scorn and abuse and general disrespect when I along with other peace-loving passengers request that the sound be lowered.

To be fair to the minibuses, they serve a useful purpose but no proper guidelines were set for them until feeble attempts in recent times. But I reflect on the days when growing up that I could have gone to Stabroek market and get on a designated yellow bus that had uniformed drivers and checkers. We had bus stops and things were orderly and peaceful. I remember going to Linden in a nice big comfortable bus again with uniformed drivers and proper schedules and being able to enjoy the view on the drive up to that town. How I long for that order and sense of stability which many of the younger generation do not know. How sad it is to think of youths growing up believing that is the only mode of transportation that was ever available to us. Again I say Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah!

Please do not allow corrupt politicking and selfish ambitions to hamper this move in the right direction. Do not run anyone who puts forward a good proposal out of town. We need to let persons who visit us enjoy some amenities that are so necessary to maintain a sense of orderliness.

Now let us talk about those train lines, we could use some trains on them. Can’t we?
