Skeldon Sugar Modernisation Project murder suspect for psychiatric evaluation
THE suspect detained in the Monday murder of security guard Mahendi Hussain, at the Skeldon Sugar Modernisation Project (SSMP), will be sent to the National Psychiatric Hospital for evaluation.
This is on advice from the chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), where the Police had forwarded the file of statements.
The 43-year-old prisoner is suspected of having killed Hussein, who succumbed to haemorrhage and laceration of the brain and a fractured skull, due to multiple blunt trauma, according to a post mortem examination performed on the body earlier this week.
The corpse of the deceased, who lived at Rampoor Settlement, Corriverton, also at Corentyne, Berbice, was found about 05:45 h Monday, in the guard hut at (SSMP) with marks of violence on it.
Police recovered, from the scene, a piece of wood believed to have been the weapon with which he was murdered.
