The Lord Giveth, and the Lord Taketh

It is not surprising that the PNCR has taken to the streets to protest food shortages, increased prices and a number of other things, which according to the PNCR are affecting the Guyanese people.

It would appear to me that the PNCR leader and his followers are not living in Guyana because if there living here they would have known that the Government has taken a number of measures to cushion rising prices and avoid food shortages.

Apart from that, the Head of State only on Wednesday announced a number of measures including a 5-percent increase in the salaries of public sector workers, $4,000 additional tax free for those earning below $50,000 per month and $20 million in seeds, fertilizers, pesticides to increase food production to further help the Guyanese people.

Ask Corbin, the same one that is protesting now, what the Guyanese people were getting under the PNC? This is a very easy question to answer because the answer is simply “nothing”, and Guyanese could not have said a word of resentment.

Corbin has failed the PNC and its supporters. He is now clutching at straws just like a drowning rat. He is a confused man and would do all sorts of things to hold on to the leadership of his party.

This current march and protest to my mind is designed to instill fear in the minds of the people, especially those in the business community.

Poor fellow, I wonder if he remembered what Burnham did to Eusi Kwayana. Readers might remember these famous words from Burnham: “The Lord Giveth, and the Lord Taketh”.
