Insurance companies dragging feet

My Fiancé’s car was involved in an accident on 7th February at the junctions of JB Singh and Thomas Land with routes 63 and 40 minibuses both causing major damages to the driver side of my fiancé’s the vehicle. Thank God he escaped unhurt.

The matter was reported to both the police station and insurance companies with charges being instituted on both minibuses. Court dates were set, and my fiancé has been attending every court session since.

When we visited our insurance companies (names provided) we were told that they need a police report, pictures and an estimate as to the cost for repairing the car before they could start processing the claim.

With the exception of the police report, all the other requirements were submitted to the insurance companies. Since the car was his only mode of transportation, my fiancé paid some $400,000 to effect repairs on the vehicle.

Before carrying out the repairs on our car, we consulted the insurance companies and they gave us the go-ahead, advising us that all they were waiting on to process the claim was the police report.

Mr. Editor, until today we have not received any word from the insurance companies as to the status of the claim process. Why are the insurance companies dragging their feet on this issue when the police have a report on the erring parties? Is this the way things are being done in this country? Are we the pitiable scapegoats of reckless drivers and unscrupulous insurance companies?

I do hope the insurance companies will pull themselves together and start working on our claim since it has been over three (3) months since this accident had occurred.
