Happy over measures to ease cost of living

I was given some level of hope yesterday morning when I opened the newspapers and saw that the government will be taking further measures to ease the cost-of-living on Guyanese, a phenomenon which is facing countries worldwide.

President Bharrat Jagdeo has certainly made it clear that the people’s interest is top priority.

He has done well to make this economy stable whilst at the same time skillfully trying to intervene in this global problem.

In this same breath, I am very much disappointed to see that in the newspapers the PNC/R will be holding a protest march for government to do more on this issue. This is really ridiculous and irresponsible.

I have not seen any other Caribbean country which is far worse off than Guyana in terms of food situation announcing such interventions.

I am really heartened as a public servant to know that I’ll get 5% increase and $4,000 also monthly.
