Guyana govt. has done a lot for the people

I am very happy to hear about the 5 percent increase in public servants’ monthly salary and the $4,000 tax free allowance for those earning under $50,000. I think this is another good move by the President and I want to express my gratitude to him for his continuing efforts to mitigate the rising cost of living on vulnerable people in the society.

Since the effects of the increasing cost of food globally, we have seen this Government initiating several measures to cushion the impact on its people. Though Guyana is a Third World country, this administration is doing a lot to ease the burden on the people.

Every country around the world is feeling the strain from the rising cost of food. Let’s look at the Caribbean . Which other Government in the Caribbean has so far, announced any initiative to help its people deal with the high cost of living?

Guyana in my view is better-off than many other countries in the Region and I must commend the Jagdeo Administration for this. No matter what the many critics say, this Government has done a lot to avoid Guyanese suffering.
