Open up savannahs

THE government has advised Guyanese to grow more food. Well we have the Guyana Marketing Corporation (GMC) selling rice at various locations. What will happen next? Will they start selling groceries next? I know that the President is a very tired person, but I think the time has come for him to open up the savannahs, for example, the Canje Creek Basin and the Berbice River. Let us irrigate these areas and lease them out to farmers. We can grow black- eye peas and corn, etc.

We import quite a lot of these items when in reality we can grow them ourselves here.

I think we should rehabilitate Kimbia. We have to do something for the youths to get them off the streets. Guyana has a bright future in agriculture so let us not wait any longer.

The Takutu Bridge is now completed but where is the roadway from Georgetown to Lethem?
