GUYANA’s top male and female models will be selected amidst a fashion extravaganza featuring local and Caribbean designers this evening at Le Meridien Pegasus.

The event, titled ‘Glamorous’, is organised by the Guyana Fashion Weekend committee, whose chief executive, Sonia Noel, said she is happy that the winners are soon to be named.

Last week, in what can only be described as one of those big ‘oops!’ moments, we inadvertently reported that the show was scheduled for last evening.

In the third leg of the search, Zandy Mc Rae was named ‘The Face of Sacha Cosmetics Guyana’ while Paul Charles was named ‘The Face of Mariska’s Designs’.

Noel said ‘Glamorous’ will feature designer clothing from Trinidad, Jamaica, Barbados and Guyana. Designers Deron Attzs and Robert Young will showcase what’s hot in Trinidad, while Cassandra Mottley’s ‘Fetish’, and Kingsley Thorne’s Swimwear will represent Barbados.

Local models will strut their stuff in clothing from 3D’s Dexter Pottinger, known as ‘The Versace of Jamaica’. The Guyana lines will come from Sonia Noel, as well as Sonola Forte, Donette Brotherson and a new lingerie line by Masharma Cox. The dress code is glamorous.

Fashionistas will have no doubt remembered the models from Sonia Noel’s Charity Show, titled ‘Glamorous’ which was their first ‘catwalk challenge’. They also had photo sessions with Donn Thompson, celebrity photographer from New York; a photo challenge; and a news-casting workshop.

The winners can expect to take home a bunch of goodies from sponsors the likes of Digicel, Sacha Cosmetics, NCN, and Caribbean Airline. The package will also include a professional model’s portfolio; items of clothing, compliments of the Guyana Model Search Designers; and guest appearances at Fashion Weekends hosted in Guyana, Trinidad and the Virgin Islands.
