Perfect example

I was very pleased to see in the newspapers that the Lusignan nursery school has its own building now. This to me is a sign of educational development amidst all that is going on in our society.

What was even more touching was to see little Roberto Thomas who survived the Lusignan massacre cutting the ribbon. This for me is a sign of encouragement. Here is a child who recently went through an ordeal and has returned to school. This should send a message to all in society who are not taking every opportunity they can to receive an education.

If this child could return to school after enduring so much, why can’t so many of our young people do the same instead of turning to a life of crime?

Little Roberto is showing the country that maybe there is a bright future. It is believed that Guyana will continue to go downhill, but with the picture I saw accompanying the article I was given new hope, that just maybe our upcoming young ones will reverse this trend in our society.
