Persistent rumours on the real motives behind the Lusignan and Bartica shootouts - Clousseau

Clousseau will appear to be rambling, which in fact is the truth. He finds himself without a topic that offers much scope for expansive delving and thus will be most brief in the effort of bringing readers up to date on some topics that come to mind.

Of some interest in persistent rumours on the real motives behind the Lusignan and Bartica shootouts; a measure of credibility behind the Bartica slaughter is provided by the reasons for the apprehension of three suspects, of which two are brothers, relating to massive gold and foreign currency possession and with a Surinamese connection. The gold and currency is reputed to be the principal object behind the Bartica incident. A case of straightforward robbery the killings that resulted according to the rumour, were coincidental and unplanned.

The Lusignan slaughters are said to be related to the discovery of a barrel full of counterfeit U.S. currency, which was lying in the John Fernandes cargo bond, and was abandoned by the stated consignee for over a year.

Not a rumour, but a report from a reliable source that the PNC/R is harbouring thoughts of closing down the country, a belief that the late Desmond Hoyte once promoted. This time around, it was announced at a recent public meeting held at the venue under the popular cork tree in the area of the original Laing Avenue Flats. Clousseau can only listen and will be making mental notes in the event that future use of some help in determining the veracity of whatever emerges from the current criminal activities.

A specific and direct appeal is being made to the PNC/R to provide the nation with irrefutable facts to support their claim that marginalisation is taking place in Guyana and that African Guyanese contractors are being deliberately overlooked to undertake projects. Clousseau has been given the assurance that this is just not so.
