West Demerara Police looking for Trinidad murder suspect
POLICE on West Coast Demerara are on a continuous lookout for a Guyanese man suspected of murdering a woman, also from Guyana, in Trinidad.
The deceased, Anela Persad, 24, who hailed from Essequibo Coast, was found strangled on October 18, 2007, in the apartment where she lived on Frederick Street, Chaguanas, not far from Chaguanas Borough Corporation.
The suspect is said to be someone known to the dead woman’s family and was reportedly responsible for her going to live in Trinidad, where he had been living for sometime.
A relative, who believes the wanted man was seen at a West Demerara village market day, immediately contacted the Police but he was able to make good his escape.
The Police were, however, led to a house which he previously occupied and the current occupants confirmed that he was resident in Trinidad for a while.
A search of his belongings unearthed Trinidad and Guyana identification cards, but bearing different names. Those and other documents were taken into custody.
