Some changes in Mash programmes
Culture, Youth and Sport Minister Dr. Frank Anthony has said plans for Mashramani 2008 are on stream, but changes have been made to some of the competitions.
Speaking to the Guyana Chronicle Dr.Anthony explained that the changes had to be made in the aftermath of the January 26 Lusignan massacre.
One of the adjustments made is the cancellation of the calypso quarter finals. Now there will only be semi-finals, and the finals are billed for February 16, in Linden. The grand float parade on Mashramani Day he underscored will go on as usual.
Meanwhile, the minister disclosed that security measures are being finalized for the grand annual celebrations and systems will be in place to address crowd control. Apart from these, Dr. Anthony said, the safety of revelers will be closely monitored.
