Building pillars of peace

IT is with amazement that I read the ‘Peeping Tom’ column in the Kaieteur News of February 7.

Firstly, President Jagdeo in a effort to build Pillars of Peace in our nation requested the Leader of the Opposition to make a declaration that they (the PNCR) is for peace specifically, that they do not support the Buxton Criminal Enterprise.

This public statement is needed in order for us to start the dialogue from which a cohesive response to the crime wave threatening to engulf our fragile democracy is needed.

In order to build Pillars of Peace we need to address the political and then the civil response (included in the civil response is reconciliation, development and cooperation) … with our society being fractured the political leaders must stand on a foundation of Peace and shout it out loud and clear for all of their supporters to hear and understand.

The President is calling for a statement of peace; we support this call, however for simplistic minds to term this deflective politics is called a “spin”.

Peeper, you need to stop your masquerade and tell the truth, you are diverting attention; the crime situation requires a national response, therefore in an effort for us to take a stand like our Motto so aptly states - One People, One Nation and One Destiny, our words and deeds must reflect such a stance.

The President has outlined the rules of engagement with the main opposition Party so as to create and maintain a safe environment for the implementation of a response to criminal activities.

We all need to work together, we are all affected. Peeper I suggest you restart your thought process and speak the truth, do not spew anymore divisive rot.
