Utility explains East Coast Demerara interruptions

GUYANA Power & Light (GPL) disclosed yesterday that, earlier this week, a motor vehicle had slammed into a primary structure at La Bonne Intention (LBI), which supports one of the high voltage transmission lines that transmit to upper East Coast Demerara.

The broken pole had begun to lean and the line tripped, alerting the Sophia station, Monday evening, that the delivery was interrupted on the East Coast between Success and Coldingen.

An emergency team from Georgetown was immediately dispatched to LBI because the Victoria crew was unable to get past the Lusignan road blockades, also on the East Coast.

The city technicians repaired the damages and re-powered the area by 22:00 h as emergency teams from the capital have been lending support to the Victoria one since recent unrest began.
