A THREE-year-old girl was yesterday killed when a gun belonging to her Police father triggered off in her mouth.
Dead is Ashanti Jordan of Lot 115 Laing Avenue, Georgetown.

Shortly after 16:30 h, the child reportedly pulled the trigger of the loaded weapon which belongs to her father, a traffic cop.

It is unclear how the child got the weapon but the bullet reportedly entered her mouth and exited through the back of her head.

Police last evening said they were investigating the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

A large crowd gathered to get a glimpse of the scene before the Police cordoned off the house.

Ranks were scouring the front of the yard for a spent shell but it is unknown whether any was found since a single gunshot went off.

Residents were overheard discussing the incident and speculated whether the child accidentally shot and killed herself or if there was foul play. (Michel Outridge)
