- when Trinidadian Judge is expected to hand-down decision
TRINIDADIAN Judge, Nolan Bereaux, is today expected to hand down a decision that will determine the fate of two Guyanese nationals and a Trinidadian, whom the US wants extradited to the country.
Abdul Kadir, 56, a former member of parliament (MP) and Abdel Nur, 57, both Guyanese, along with 62-year-old Abdul Kareem Ibrahiim of Trinidad are fighting an extradition order made by Chief Magistrate, Sherman Nichols on August 6, 2007 for the three to face trial in the US.
Kadir, Nur and Ibrahiim are wanted in the United States for an alleged plot to blow up fuel tanks and pipelines at New York’s JFK International Airport which handles some 1,000 flights and more than 120,000 passengers daily.
The trio, have been incarcerated in a Trinidad jail since June 2007.
Another suspect, Guyanese-born Russel De Freitas, a former cargo handler at the JFK airport, is in jail in New York facing the same terrorism charge.
