GRA needs to bring Freddie Kissoon closer under its microscope
I feel compelled to respond to Freddie’s article “democracy and dictatorship: - the role of the judge,” in which he, like the judiciary, seems to be on the side of the lawless or unlawful.
Perhaps the GRA needs to bring Freddie closer under its microscope because he may have been evading the GRA for one reason or another, like Fidelity seems to have been doing.
Freddie has simply exposed himself to the Commissioner-General and it is an opportune time for the GRA to gather all its information and seriously investigate him.
The GRA has grounds to do this, not only because it is a ‘law enforcement’ agency but also because Freddie’s (multi-million-dollar) property in Turkeyen was of concern to members of the public.
The fact that Freddie has always been bemoaning paying taxes from what he calls a meager lecturer’s salary from the University of Guyana, yet he managed to build such an elaborate home would raise eyebrows.
Have some of these unscrupulous businesses assisted Freddie to acquire his home though some form of misdeed?
Mr. Commissioner-General, you need to investigate persons such as Freddie to determine if they make accurate declarations to your authority and if not deal with them accordingly.
