Jafarally Asrafali repaces Peters as president of the BCBC

… Carl Moore did not seek re-election as secretary
BUSINESSMAN Jafarally Asrafali was elected president of the Berbice Cricket Board of Control (BCBC), when the board held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday at its Cheddi Jagan Street office in New Amsterdam.

Asrafali, proprietor of Papie’s Supermarket in Corriverton and father of national off-spinner Imran Jaferally, replaces Malcolm Peters, who held the position for the past four years.

Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club president, Keith Foster returned as first vice-president while David Black, who served in the previous administration as third vice-president, is now the new second vice-president, taking over from Moonsammy Kalimootoo.

Pastor and school teacher Mark Lyte was chosen as the third vice- president while former assistant secretary Angela Haniff was elevated to the secretary’s position after Carl Moore, who had held the position since 1991, did not seek re-election.

Recently appointed New Building Society Ltd (NBS) Corriverton Branch Manager Vicky Bharosay is now the Board’s assistant secretary, with Anil Beharry and Romesh Munna returning as the treasurer and assistant treasurer respectively.

The elected executives are expected to meet shortly to appoint the various sub-committees of the board.
