Hire car drivers urge authorities to deal with strays
SEVERAL hire car drivers are eagerly appealing to the relevant authorities to help keep stray animals off the road on the Essequibo Coast as they are very much concerned with their safety.
Recently Guyana Chronicle caught up with the drivers who are plying the Supenaam/Charity route who complained about cattle on the road which have becoming a hazard on the road way.
“I think the authorities should look into this issue seriously because it can cause severe damage to our vehicles. We have been very cautious when operating on the road way but the traffic Police will have to be more vigilant and try impounding these cows especially,” one driver revealed.
According to another driver, it seems as though the strays do not have owners and that is why the persons responsible should get them off the road which is a major concern particularly in the nights.
