Two attempted murder accused refused bail
TWENTY-YEAR-OLD Delon Success, of Number 28, West Coast Berbice, was remanded to prison yesterday on an indictable attempted murder charge.
He was refused bail by Magistrate Tejnarine Ramroop, at New Amsterdam Court, also in Berbice, after Police Sergeant Satrohan Dayaram, prosecuting, said the victim, Clinton McKenzie, is in a critical condition at Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
The Prosecutor said the patient suffered a wound to his abdomen that caused his intestines to protrude.
Particulars of the offence said Success inflicted the injury on the virtual complainant last Boxing Day, at Golden Grove, another West Coast Berbice village.
The case has been transferred to Fort Wellington Court, at West Coast Berbice, too, for January 17.
Success was one of two men remanded to prison on similar charges.
The other man, Jeff Seepersaud, 30, of Letter Kenny, will make his next appearance at Whim Court, also at Corentyne, Monday.
Before Magistrate Chandra Sohan, at New Amsterdam Court, it was alleged that Seepersaud wounded Aubrey Morrison with intent to kill him, on December 20, at Letter Kenny.
Police Inspector Fazil Karimbaksh, prosecuting, said Morrison also is in a critical condition, but at New Amsterdam Hospital.
Police Corporal Singh testified that the accused was seen by a doctor minutes before being taken to Court and given medication.
