Three carnal knowledge accused refused bail
THREE men, all charged separately with indictable carnal knowledge offences, were refused bail yesterday by Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.
One of the accused, Shawn Phipps, 36, of Lot 68 Cummings Street, Bourda, is alleged to have committed the crime, between July 31 and September 1 last, at Bent and John Streets, also in Georgetown.
His victim is an 11-year-old female and he will remain in prison until January 4.
Another accused, Godfrey Haywood alias ‘Lil Man’, of 19th Street, Diamond, East Bank Demerara, faced the allegation that he, on December 20, had carnal knowledge of a 22-year-old female, without her consent.
Haywood, 34, has been remanded to jail until February 11.
The third accused, Amarnauth Rampersaud, a 31-year-old bus driver, of Lot 1001 Diamond New Housing Scheme, is alleged to have committed the offence between September 1 and 30, at Kingston Seawall, Georgetown.
Particulars in the charge said the virtual complainant is 15 years of age.
He, too, was remanded to prison where he is to stay through January 8.
