UG students woos civil society’s support for UG
STUDENTS of the DPC 310 Public Relations Principles Course at the University of Guyana (UG) yesterday made a donation to the Communication Centre situated on the Turkeyen campus.
offering each Digicel customer who purchases a hand set or Sim pack with credit, a free gift.
This donation was made after the students recognised the many constraints faced by the administration, staff and their colleagues which resulted in the closure of the Public Communication programme to new intakes indefinitely.
As such, this gesture was undertaken by the students who embarked on a public relations project to help bring good will at UG.
Among the items donated were writing desks, closable book case, filing cabinets, a black and white laser printer, a photocopier and water cooler.
The project was aimed at complimenting their lecturers’ efforts in order to improve the Centre by providing much-needed items through donations from civil society, the private sector and non-governmental organisations.
The project was initiated by putting together a public relations campaign which seek to answer the cause which entailed educating and informing the public about the need to improve the Centre and build collaboration between UG and various stakeholders.
The students also expressed their gratitude towards the donors in making the event a grand success. Among those who would have contributed are New GPC, Former President Janet Jagan, Ramroop’s Furniture Store, Giftland Office Max, Western Union and all the individuals who contributed to the project.
