SEVERAL Guyanese Blind cricket coaches are benefiting from the expertise of professional coaches from England.

Coach Rory Field and Geoff Smith, a former International player and who is the current secretary of the World Blind Cricket Council, arrived in Guyana on Wednesday and began teaching the basic techniques to many of the local coaches.

Trinidadian Anthony Gray, a former West Indies fast bowler, is part of the programme which is organised by the Guyana Blind Cricket Association, and he is also being taught the fundamentals of Blind Cricket yesterday at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.

A number of national players, including two West Indies blind players Ganesh Singh and Oliver Kerr were on hand to learn from the experienced Englishmen who will be here for one week.

They commenced the conducting of skills related to managing blind cricket in all aspects including batting techniques, bowling skills, fielding and proper work ethic of players.

Sessions are set to resume today and they will conclude the programme next Tuesday with a cricket match at the Gandhi Youth Organisation ground on Woolford Avenue.
