Freddie Kissoon is misleading Guyanese about furniture shortage in schools

Freddie Kissoon is once again using his column to mislead Guyanese. In his column dated September 14, 2007, he claimed that schools in Guyana lack sufficient desks and chairs.

But the question must be asked: does the problem occur across the board, or in a few isolated cases? Indeed, if it is not an isolated case, then there is reason for concern and intervention by the Ministry of Education. But if not, then Freddie Kissoon is once again guilty of distortion.

Mr. Kissoon through his column seeks to create a ‘Halo effect’, that is, in simplest of words, exaggeration of the fact, and at the same time generalizing on an issue when there is no representative evidence.
