Teaching Service Commission sworn in

Georgetown, GINA, January 20, 2003

Members of the Teaching Service Commission took the oath of Office today in the presence of President Bharrat Jagdeo.
The swearing in was delayed as officials awaited the return of one member from overseas.
Those sworn in to serve on the Teaching Service Commission are Edward Caesar, Chief Education Officer, Ministry of Education, Mr. George Cave, member of the Guyana Teachers Union, Richard Mangar, Hubert Abraham, Ms. Ethel Olga Britton, Mrs. Lelia Ramson and Mohamed Khan.
President Bharrat Jagdeo and the Leader of the Opposition Robert Corbin in the May 6 Communiqué, agreed to accelerate implementation of the steps to appoint the Constitutional Service Commissions.
The members of the Police Service Commission and the Public Service Commission have already been sworn in. The Judicial Service Commission members are still to be sworn-in.
Those appointed to the Judicial Service Commission are Chancellor of the Judiciary, Desiree Bernard, Chief Justice, Carl Singh, former Chief Justice, Prem Persaud, Attorney-at-Law, Bryn Pollard and Chairman of the Public Service Commission, George Fung-On.
