- Events to commemorate the life and death of the Father of the Nation

The PPP/C has organised a number of activities throughout the country to commemorate the life and death of the former President of Guyana, Dr. Cheddi Jagan.
Dr. Jagan, who was born on March 22, 1918 served as President of Guyana from October 9, 1992 to March 6, 1997. He died on March 6, 1997.
The main event will be held on March 05 at Babu John, Port Mourant, Corentyne during which there will be addresses by President Bharrat Jagdeo, former President Mrs. Janet Jagan, PPP/C General Secretary Donald Ramotar and Mr. Zulfikar Mustapha.
The programme includes several cultural items, including readings from Dr. Jagan’s writings, and a wreath-laying ceremony.
Other activities throughout the country will include wreath-laying ceremonies at Anna Regina in Region Two, Karasabai in Region Nine, and Kopinang in Region Eight, live and recorded television programmes, photographic exhibitions, a family fun day at State House, Georgetown, lectures, a fitness walk, a cycle race and a newspaper supplement.
