Apply now for the national costume and float parade

February 14 is the final day for application forms for the annual Mashramani costume and float parade to be returned to the Mashramani Secretariat.
All organisations or groups interested in participating in the costume and float parade on February 23 must uplift application forms before February 14.
This competition is open to all commercial and non-commercial organisations, government bodies, musical bands and groups.
There are three major categories for entry. These are costume band and float, decorated animal drawn cart and the Regional costume competition.
Floats will be categorized by national and regional categories. Both competitions will aim at identifying the best large band, best medium band, best small band, king of the band, queen of the band, individual male costume and individual female costume, along with best designer.
Large bands must comprise more than 101 persons, while medium bands between 51 to 100 persons and small bands 30 to 50 persons.
Each entrant must provide marshals for their float or costume. Whether it’s a large or small band, at least one marshal should be provided for every ten persons.
The Ministry is ensuring that there are adequate Police patrols on Mash Day.
The Mash route runs east along Church Street into Irving Street, north along Irving Street/J.B Latchmansingh Highway into Thomas Road, and west along Thomas Road to the eastern entrance of the National Park.
