Cabinet approves $11M for Mashramani celebrations
- PM, Government Ministers to fan out for regional observances
This year’s Mash celebrations look promising and as usual the Administration will be doing its best to ensure Mashramani 2004 is grand.
Cabinet at its meeting yesterday approved $11.2M from the Lottery Funds given to Government, to fund Government agencies, Ministries and regional celebrations.
Head of the Presidential Secretariat and Cabinet Secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon at his weekly post-Cabinet media briefing today made this announcement.
The celebrations this year will include adult and junior calypso competition, road March competition, masquerade competition, children costume parade, steel band, and costume and float parade, Dr. Luncheon said.
Government Ministers will also fan out to join the regional flag raising ceremonies and Mashramani celebrations:

As usual Government allocates a sizeable sum of money for Mashramani celebrations by State agencies and Ministries. Last year more than $10M was set aside.
Government Ministers also spread out to all of the ten Regions to attend Flag-Raising ceremonies.
