His Excellency President Bharrat Jagdeo and the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Robert Corbin met this afternoon (Monday, August 18, 2003) at the Office of the President to continue to the constructive engagement process.

The meeting discussed issues pertaining to the implementation of the Communiqué and the Follow up Agreement. In this regard, the Leader of the Opposition expressed concerns about the pace of implementation of aspects of the Communiqué and the Follow up Agreement.

President Jagdeo and Mr. Corbin agreed that their High Representatives would meet on Wednesday, August 20, 2003 to review progress and discuss ways of accelerating the pace of implementation of those aspects of the Communiqué and the Follow up Agreement.
